Daughters Ruby and Ada say "its ok mama is always dirty cause she’s a farmer.”
Since 2006 Nathan has worked on a variety of small organic farms in the Unites States, France, and Argentina. What drew Nathan to farming is the great community around organic farming and how amazing food tastes when it is freshly harvested. What has kept him in in the fields is the joy he gets from tending plants, being a part of the small farm ecology, and watching the seasons change. For him, the human challenge of constantly improving on farming systems as well as exploring the wonders of nature play equal importance in good food production.
Karey grew up in Monkton, and has been a member of the New Leaf crew for several years now. She feels great about how she is able to serve her local community and steward her environment through the practice of organically grown produce. She also loves the creativity that comes into play with the cut flower side of the business, a passion she inherited from her mother, Bonnie.
Abraham, or Abe as he is commonly referred to, has been found roaming the fields at Newleaf for several years now. When not playing with mushrooms on logs or spoiling his dog Lima and his growing brood of kittens, he likes getting lost in the woods of the high peaks. In the winter months he is often found climbing apple trees with his lady friend Moriah or tasting various alcoholic creations.
